Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP) Implementation
A Positive Behaviour Support Plan is only as effective as the team that carries it out every day. At Number 1 Care, we implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans with consistency, care, and genuine understanding – so participants experience the stability and safety they deserve.
With 15+ years of lived and professional experience, our support workers are trained to follow each plan precisely – every shift, every day.
We understand how much work goes into developing a PBSP, and we take our responsibility as implementing providers seriously. Because for participants with complex behaviour support needs, how a plan is implemented makes all the difference.
Implementation That Makes a Real Difference
Implementing a PBSP well requires more than just reading the document. It requires workers who are trained, consistent, calm under pressure, and genuinely invested in the participant’s wellbeing.
We work alongside participants, families, behaviour support practitioners, and support coordinators – making sure every strategy is applied correctly and consistently across every shift.
What We Do as an Implementing Provider
- Apply all proactive and reactive strategies consistently across every shift
- Train all workers on the PBSP before their first shift with the participant
- Record incidents, data, and observations as required by the plan
- Communicate regularly with the Behaviour Support Practitioner and support coordinator
- Attend review meetings and provide feedback on what is working
- Support the reduction and elimination of any restrictive practices over time
Number 1 Care is the implementing provider – we carry out the strategies in your participant’s PBSP in daily life. The plan itself is developed by a separate registered Behaviour Support Practitioner. If you don’t yet have a practitioner, we can help connect you with one.
Our PBSP Implementation Includes
Plan Familiarisation: Thorough onboarding – every worker reads and understands the full PBSP before support begins.
Consistent Strategy Application: Proactive and reactive strategies applied the same way, every shift, by every worker.
Incident Reporting & Data Collection: Accurate, timely documentation shared with your behaviour support practitioner and coordinator.
Restrictive Practice Compliance: Full compliance with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements – with a focus on reducing restrictions over time.
Our Approach
We’re a family-led provider, not a rotating roster. Participants see the same familiar workers regularly – people who know them, understand their triggers, and have built genuine trust over time.
For participants with behaviour support needs, this consistency isn’t just about comfort – it’s clinically important. Familiar faces reduce anxiety, improve outcomes, and generate better data for the behaviour support practitioner.
Working Together
We work closely with families, carers, support coordinators, and behaviour support practitioners to make sure everyone is informed, aligned, and moving in the same direction.
When the whole team is consistent, PBSP implementation works – and participants feel safer, calmer, and more supported.
